Cliparoo

Local by design

Your pouch,
your privacy.

Cliparoo keeps your clipboard history on your Mac. Here’s what that means—and the choices you have.

Effective date: 23 October 2026
This policy is provided by the Cliparoo developer, based in Australia. “We” and “us” refer to the Cliparoo developer.

What Cliparoo stores

While collection is enabled, Cliparoo reads supported content from the macOS clipboard and keeps a local history in its app sandbox. This can include text, images, links, formatting, file references, source application identifiers, copy dates, tags, pins, edited text and text recognised from images. Clipboard content can contain personal or confidential information. Settings such as shortcuts, appearance, exclusions and cleanup preferences are also stored locally.

Your history isn’t sent to us

Cliparoo doesn’t send your clipboard history to the developer or a Cliparoo server. It has no account system, advertising SDK, built-in analytics service or Cliparoo cloud synchronisation. Image text recognition uses Apple’s Vision framework on your Mac. The app doesn’t use tracking identifiers or tracking domains.

Link previews show the saved address without fetching website metadata. Choosing “Open in browser” opens the address in your browser, where that website’s privacy practices apply. Anything you paste into another app is handled by that app.

You choose what stays

You can pause collection, exclude applications and pasteboard types, use exclusion rules, change history limits and configure automatic cleanup. Clear History removes unpinned items; Clear All History includes pins. The system clipboard is separate, with a setting to clear it when clearing history.

Exclusions can’t guarantee every sensitive item will be recognised. Pause collection before copying secrets you don’t want retained. Deleting an item doesn’t guarantee secure erasure from disk, backups or another app’s history.

Optional permissions and feedback

Automatic paste is optional and off by default. It needs macOS Accessibility permission to send the paste shortcut to the active application. Browsing history and copying work without that access. You can revoke permission in System Settings.

Notification banners and in-app sounds are optional and off by default. Cliparoo asks macOS for notification permission through your explicit banner controls, not ordinary copying or launch. Banners are generic unless you enable copied-text previews, which may expose clipboard text on screen or on the Lock Screen. You can choose events and turn banners or previews off. macOS controls system permission and presentation.

In-app sounds have separate volume and event controls and aren’t muted by Focus. Launch at login is optional. File previews depend on the files and access macOS makes available.

Storage, backups and security

History is stored in Cliparoo’s local macOS app container. Cliparoo doesn’t add a separate password or encryption layer to that database. Device encryption, account protection and backups depend on your Mac’s configuration. macOS and backup tools may include app data in backups; Cliparoo doesn’t operate or control those services.

Limited local operational diagnostics may include item counts and window behaviour. History-operation logs don’t intentionally include clipboard text. Apple may process crash diagnostics, purchases, updates and App Store services under its own policies and your settings. Cliparoo has no separate crash-reporting service.

This website and support

This website is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. The pages add no analytics scripts, third-party fonts, tracking cookies or contact forms. Cloudflare may process technical information such as IP addresses, browser information and requests to deliver and secure the website. Its handling and retention of this information are described in Cloudflare’s privacy policy. Visiting this website does not give us access to your clipboard history.

If you email support, we use the information you choose to send—such as your email address, issue description and attachments—to respond. Support email is hosted using Apple iCloud Mail. Apple processes correspondence under its applicable terms and privacy policy. Support emails are kept only as long as needed to resolve your enquiry, unless a longer period is legally required. Please don’t send sensitive clipboard contents or your clipboard database.

Cloudflare and Apple operate internationally, so website connection information and support correspondence may be processed outside Australia. Their policies explain their international data handling. This is separate from the clipboard history stored locally by Cliparoo.

Questions and changes

Contact support@getcliparoo.com for privacy questions or requests about support correspondence. Policy updates will be published on this page. Local clipboard history can be managed and deleted in the app; it isn’t accessible to us remotely.
