A helping paw
Let’s get you hopping.
A few pointers for getting comfortable with your clipboard companion.
Your first few copies
- Open Cliparoo and copy some harmless sample text or an image.
- Open your history from the menu bar, or press the opening shortcut shown in Settings → General. The default is ⇧⌘C.
- Search or browse, then choose an item to put it back on the clipboard.
- Return to your destination app and paste with ⌘V.
In Settings → Appearance, choose a floating window or bottom strip. Pin items you reuse, add tags to organise them, and use the eye control for a closer look.
A little troubleshooting
It copies, but doesn’t paste automatically
Switch on Paste automatically in Settings → General, then allow Cliparoo under System Settings → Privacy & Security → Accessibility. Restart Cliparoo and try with a text field ready in another app.
Check that permission belongs to the copy of Cliparoo you are actually running. If you moved from a development build, removing a stale entry and adding the installed app again may help. Browsing and copying work without Accessibility access.
I can’t find a saved copy
Check collection isn’t paused, clear your search and filters, and check excluded apps and content types. History limits and automatic cleanup may remove older unpinned items. Pin things you want to keep, and save important material somewhere permanent too.
I’m not seeing notification banners
In Settings → General → Little nudges, turn on notification banners. Use Enable notifications… if permission hasn’t been decided, or send a test banner. If you previously declined permission, enable Cliparoo in System Settings → Notifications; macOS won’t ask again.
Focus and your macOS alert style can affect presentation. Banners are generic unless you explicitly enable copied-text previews. In-app roo sounds have separate controls and aren’t muted by Focus.
I’ve hidden the menu-bar icon
Open Cliparoo with your configured keyboard shortcut, or launch it from Applications. You can show the icon again in Settings → Appearance.
How do I clear my history?
Use the options menu to clear unpinned history, or Clear All History to include pinned items. The system clipboard is separate; check the setting for clearing it too. Clearing history doesn’t securely erase copies that may exist in backups or other apps.
How do updates work?
The released version updates through the Mac App Store. Beta builds are installed and updated through TestFlight.
